A registered childminder is someone registered to provide paid childcare from their own home, sometimes working with other childminders or assistants. This free, 6 week course is suitable for anyone interested in becoming a registered childminder. It will give you an overview of what you need to consider if you are thinking of becoming a childminder, including the necessary checks that you need to do, training that you will need to complete and the costs involved. It will provide you with the information and support you need to register as a childminder. You will receive a certificate of attendance.

Whilst there are no specific requirements to join this course, you will need to have a good grasp of English. You will need to be able to:
read and understand legislative documents and the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework
Please be aware that this course aims to help you to plan a route to become a registered childminder. Your route will be personal depending on what experience, training and qualifications you already have. At the end of this course, you may find that there is further training that you need to do or that you feel you would like to do to help you to prepare for this role. There is no guarantee at the end of the course that you will definitely be ready to register as a childminder.
