Support Available to You
At Luton Adult Learning we aim to support as many eligible adult learners as possible to access learning and provide those who need it with additional support to start or stay in learning. We do this by supporting the learner if there is a financial need or by supporting learning if there is an identified learning difficulty or disability.

We can provide support for those learners who have an identified learning difficulty and/or disability to help achieve their learning goal. Support available:
Information and guidance

Information sessions or 1:1 interviews
Initial assessment
Assistance in learning situations
SENCO and SEND team
Learning Support Assistants to support learners outside class time
Learner progress will be reviewed regularly to ensure learning goals are being achieved
Specialist support as appropriate for:
Sensory impairments, physical difficulties, learning difficulties, medical conditions including mental ill-health
Communication support: signers for the deaf, hearing loops, note takers
Dyslexia assessments for courses where there are special arrangements for examinations
Material adaptation
Special arrangements for examinations in line with awarding body protocols
Study Support Appointments
These are available for learners who are at risk of withdrawal and/or non-achievement because they either:
feel stressed about or are struggling to cope with their course work submissions or exam preparation
or
have difficulties in their personal lives that are impacting on regular attendance, coursework completion or exam attendance
Learning Mentors/Progress Coaches available to:
Boost learners confidence and self-esteem
Help create an action plan with the learner
Help learners to develop organisational skills, communication skills and study support techniques

Learner Support Fund (Discretionary) (DLSF)
Learner support is discretionary and is available to provide financial support for individuals with a specific financial hardship which prevents them from taking part in or continuing with learning. Support can be provided towards the cost of childcare, public transport, course related costs, exam fees and IT devices or connectivity where appropriate.
DLS funding is means tested and the amount a learner may receive depends on their income. Ask your teacher or at reception for an application form.
The following categories represent a sliding scale of income* which is used to determine the amount of Discretionary Learner Support that is available to a learner:
Under £25,000
£25,001 - £27,000
£27,001 - £29,000
£29,001 - £31,000
100% award
80% award
60% award
40% award

Luton Adult Learning and Arriva have joined together to offer great value travel ticket discounts.
If you are working or learning at Luton Adult Learning this scheme will not only provide you with reduced bus travel costs to and from your place of work or learning, you’ll also be able to use your ticket for unlimited bus travel 7 days a week.
