At the award level, the aims of the qualification are to enable learners to explore at an introductory level the many potential career pathways in health and social care and develop a range of skills needed for working with children and adults, and assisting with their learning and development. It is suitable for anyone already volunteering or just starting work in care as well as anyone not yet working. This course is also suitable as a starting point for anyone interested in childcare.
As well as grow their basic understanding of the scope and breadth of roles in the care sector and understand how to apply skills and use various activities to enable them to make decisions with confidence about their chosen career.
What will I learn?
At the Award level, the aims of the qualification are to enable learners to:

What are the course entry requirements?
Before you join this course, you will have to attend an initial assessment session to identify your English and maths levels. You must be working towards Functional Skills Entry 3 in English and Functional Skills Entry 3 in maths.
How is the qualification delivered and assessed?
During this course you will build an e-portfolio of work where you will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through activities and assignments. This is a 9 week course with sessions held every week. You will be offered 1-1 support and drop in sessions to support you to be a successful learner. You will be given a completion date for your portfolio and you must be completed by this date or you risk not achieving.
Further Progression
Successful completion of a Level 1 certificate could lead to progression to a Level 2 qualification or you may be recommended to upskill your English, maths or ICT before doing this. You may also be able to progress within employment in a variety of roles.
