The Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care is a competence based qualification which has been designed to meet the Skills for Care qualification criteria.
This qualification consists of mandatory units covering core knowledge and skills competencies with optional specialisms which can be are combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.
The content of the mandatory units covers person centred approaches, communication, personal development, equality and inclusion, handling information, duty of care, responsibilities of the role, safeguarding, and, health, safety and wellbeing. The optional units are designed to meet the requirements of a range of Healthcare and Care services and to support the delivery of both the Adult Care Worker and Healthcare Support Worker Apprenticeship Standards.
The qualification contains units which are competence based and several knowledge based units. The qualification is structured in a way which means that all learners will have to complete a group of mandatory units, the content of which is required across any adult care or healthcare support role at level 2. In addition there is a wide range of optional units to support areas of specialism.

What are the course entry requirements?
Before you join this course, you will have to attend an initial assessment session to identify your English and maths levels. You must be working towards Functional Skills Entry 3 in English and maths.
How is the qualification delivered and assessed?
During this course you will build an e-portfolio of work where you will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through activities and assignments. This is a 9 week course with sessions held every week. You will be offered 1-1 support and drop in sessions to support you to be a successful learner. You will be given a completion date for your portfolio and you must be completed by this date or you risk not achieving.
Further Progression
Successful completion of a Level 2 diploma could lead to progression to a Level 3 qualification or you may be recommended to upskill your English, maths or ICT before doing this. You may also be able to progress within employment in a variety of roles.
