This is a knowledge based qualification suitable for anyone wanting to work in a supporting role in a school, for example as a teaching assistant, midday supervisor, site agent or in administration. It is suitable for anyone already volunteering or just starting work in schools as well as anyone not yet working in school.

What are the course entry requirements?
Before you join this course, you will have to attend an initial assessment session to identify your English and maths levels and then you may be invited to an interview with a teacher. The interview may be in person or online. You must be working towards Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Functional Skills Level 1 in maths.
How is the qualification delivered and assessed?
This course is delivered online via Zoom, so you will need access to the internet and a laptop or tablet to take part in them. If this causes an issue for you then please contact us to see if there are any reasonable adjustments we can make for you.
During this course you will build an e-portfolio of work where you will demonstrate your knowledge and understanding through activities and assignments.
This course is delivered over 18 weeks in 9 sessions. Sessions will be held once a fortnight to allow you time to complete homework activities and assignments and self-study tasks ready for the next taught session. You will be given a completion date for your portfolio and you must be completed by this date or you risk not achieving.
