Supporting in Schools

All of our Supporting in Schools qualifications during 2024/2025 will be delivered online by a teacher via zoom and an e-learning platform with face to face support sessions and visits into the workplace. We offer our short introductory course Becoming a Teaching Assistant face to face at our centre in Arndale House.

Becoming a Teaching Assistant 

Day: Wednesday

Date: 8 January - 5 February

Length of course: 6 weeks

Time: 9.30am to 11.30am 

Venue: Central library (subject to change)

Cost: Free*

*Subject to eligibility. You will need to show us that you have been a resident in the UK for more than 3 years. There are some exceptions, if you are not sure if you are eligible please call us on 01582 490033  

Supporting Children’s Numeracy Skills

Day: Wednesday

Date: 26 February - 26 March

Length of course: 6 weeks

Time: 9.30am to 11.30am

Venue: Central Library

Cost: Free*

*Subject to eligibility. You will need to show us that you have been a resident in the UK for more than 3 years. There are some exceptions, if you are not sure if you are eligible please call us on 01582 490033  

Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools

Day: Thursday

Date: TBC for a 2025 start 

Length of course: 18 weeks

Time: 9.15am to 11.45am

Venue: Online - fortnightly sessions

Cost: £300**

Level 2 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Day: Thursday

Date: TBC for a 2025 start 

Time: 9.15am to 11.45am

Length of course: 36 weeks

Venue: Online - fortnightly sessions

**Please note learners on the Level 2 course may be eligible to have some or their entire course fees remitted. This course is free to learners who are unemployed, looking for work, available to start work and on one of these benefits: 

JSA, ESA (WRAG), Income Support, Council Tax/Housing Benefit, Working Tax Credit or other income related benefits. The learner must be named on the paper work. This course may also be free if your income is under £25,000 gross per annum. You will need to provide evidence of this in the form of wage slips. 

Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

This is a rolling programme.

Payments in instalments may be arranged for anyone paying fees.
